臺北市立國樂團在快度過30週年後，已逐漸散發出一個站在國際舞台上表演團隊的氣質。

一年前我們設定了多個目標，眼高手也高，現今目標一個一個慢慢達成；十月甫結束的大陸巡演，便看到了樂團的成熟與蛻變。從南京到北京，樂團在大陸巡演舞台上是以知己知彼的態度拿出最好的一面，來彰顯北市國的特色。

北市國的強項在於曲目極富現代性和挑戰性，團員對現代作品吸收能力強，在最緊迫的時間之內，樂團可以端出高水準的新作來吸引西方名家與樂團合作，發揮了最大的效果。

深信樂團在未來一、兩年內，可以針對弱處來補強，培養出更好的基本功與演奏默契，讓整體表現更為扎實。面對明年在上海世博的表演與北京國家大劇院的再次邀約，樂團將呈現更強的曲目與國際級獨奏家陣容，朝著登上世界國樂團龍頭地位的目標努力邁進。

除了近年來不斷增加音樂會的場次、提供多元曲目，提昇整個樂團的動力和活力以培養觀眾群與擴展音樂市場外，北市國也會加強海外巡演與增加世界發行唱片的數量。最近的一、兩年是以「國際規格」的大陸巡演為主要目標，明年六月有一個小型的德國演出，2011年臺北市立國樂團將由代理馬友友的經紀公司安排踏上美國舞台，並預計三到五年之內向歐洲邁進。我們千方百計在國際舞台上尋求亮相的機會，就是為了完成進軍國際的最大目標。

感謝團員們的支持和努力，要改變傳統既定的觀念不易，但是要站上國際舞台，就要合乎國際潮流，作品與音樂會的素質要合乎國際水準，別人賞識的機會既然來了，懂得把握，並作好萬全準備，就能完成理想。


　　Thirty years have just flown by; Taipei CityOrchestra has now begun to exude the quality and character of a group that is worthy of the international stage.

　　A year ago, we set many goals. We were very ambitious, but now these goals were slowly reached, one after another. The tour that just finished in October was a clear demonstration of the orchestra's maturity and transformation. From Nanjing to Beijing, the team brought out its best to be on par with its counterparts, showing the distinct character of TCO.

　　TCO's strength lies in the contemporariness and the challenge demonstrated through the selection of the musical pieces. Members of TCO are very adaptable to modern works. In a very tight timeframe, the group is capable of
presenting high quality new work that attracted collaboration of famous artists and orchestras from the West. This is extremely effective.

　　I strongly believe that the team will be able to gather its strength to improve its shortcomings, and grow to master stronger basic skills and implicit unity, so that the overall performance will become more solid. In the coming year, we
have next year's Shanghai World Expo ahead of us, and the invitation from the National Grand Theatre to perform again. I strongly believe that TCO will present a concert program that is even stronger, with the line up of international soloists, bringing us another step closer to a leading position among Chinese orchestra's in the world.

　　We will continue to increase the number of performances with more diversity in the programming, so as to bring our dynamic quality and vitality to the next level, cultivate the audience and expand the market. In addition, we will strengthen our overseas performance and increase the number of records made for the world. In the past one to two years, the emphasis has been on the‘international format’used in the Beijing performances. There is a small ensemble performance in Germany next June. In 2011, TCO will debut in the U.S., and most likely in Europe in the coming three to five years, with the help of Yo Yo Ma's agent. We have been relentlessly seeking to perform overseas,so as to reach our major goal of making it to the international stage.

　　I would like to thank all members of TCO for their support and hard work. It is not an easy task to change people's perspective of what has been set as a tradition. But to stand on the international stage, it is necessary to follow
international trends, and present work and music performances with the quality that meets the international standards. Our opportunity to be appreciated is no longer far. We must know how to make the most of this and be fully prepared for it. And we shall then succeed.
